2828 Section 1. Short title.—This act may be cited as "The 17
2929 Villages Independent Fire Control and Rescue District Act," 18

546546 Section 4. District board of commissioners; membership, 385

549549 Florida Statutes, by the board of commissioners of The Villages 388
550550 Independent Fire Control and Rescue District, which is 389
551551 established as a board of five commissioners, elected, 390
552552 organized, and operating purs uant to chapter 191, Florida 391

554554 (1) Beginning on the effective date of this act, the 393
555555 district shall be governed by a governing board consisting of 394
556556 five members initially appointed by the Governor and thereafter 395
557557 elected. After soliciting recommenda tions from the public, the 396

587587 Section 6. Boundaries.—The boundaries of the district may 416
588588 be modified, extended, or enlarged upon approval or ratification 417

590590 Section 7. Amendment of charter. —The charter may be 419
591591 amended only by special act of the Legislature. 420
592592 Section 8. Severability.—If any provision of this act or 421
