3131 Section 1. Section 445.11, Florida Statutes, is created to 18

3333 445.11 Florida's Potential Grant Program. — 20
3434 (1) Florida's Potential Grant Program is established 21
3535 within the Department of Education for the purpo se of providing 22
3636 grants to Florida College System institutions to assist the 23
3737 institutions with providing workforce education and training to 24

5151 educational attainment, compared to the level of po stsecondary 26
5252 educational attainment in the state, in combination with a 27
5353 higher unemployment rate than the state's unemployment rate and 28
5454 to promote local job growth and economic development. 29
5555 (2) A Florida College System institution may apply to the 30
5656 Department of Education for a grant under the program to provide 31
5757 workforce education and training to the residents in at least 32
5858 one zip code that the institution serves but does not currently 33
5959 have a campus or a center in that area. Subject to appropriation 34
6060 of funds by the Legislature, the department may award grants to 35
6161 institutions that apply for grants pursuant to this subsection. 36
6262 The Department of Economic Opportunity shall partner with each 37
6363 Florida College System institution receiving a grant under this 38
6464 section to provide insight into serving the needs of the 39
6565 residents of the zip codes being provided workforce education 40
6666 and training under the program. 41
6767 (3) The State Board of Education shall adopt rules to 42
6868 implement this section. 43
6969 Section 2. This act shall tak e effect July 1, 2022. 44
