2020 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 7

2222 Section 1. Subsection (10) of section 916.106, Florida 9
2323 Statutes, is amended to read: 10
2424 916.106 Definitions. —For the purposes of this chapter, the 11
2525 term: 12
2626 (10) "Forensic facility" means a separate and secure 13
2727 facility established within the department or agency , or 14
2828 contracted using department funding, to serve forensic clients. 15
2929 A separate and secure facility means a security -grade building 16
3030 for the purpose of separately housing persons who have mental 17
3131 illness from persons who have intellectual disabilities or 18
3232 autism and separately housing persons who have been 19
3333 involuntarily committed pursuant to this chapter from 20
3434 nonforensic residents. The term includes a facility serving 21
3535 forensic clients committed to the department which is colocated 22
3636 in a county jail and operated by a community mental health 23
3737 provider through a contract. 24
3838 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 25
