1919 Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

2121 That the following amendment to Section 4 of Article IX and 10

2323 Constitution are agreed to and shall be submitted to the 12
2424 electors of this state for approval or rejection at the next 13
2525 general election or at an earlier special election specifically 14
2626 authorized by law for that purpose: 15

2929 SECTION 4. School districts; school boards. — 18
3030 (a) Each county shall constitute a school district; 19
3131 provided, two or more contiguous counties, upon vote of the 20
3232 electors of each county pursuant to law, may be combined into 21
3333 one school district. In each school district th ere shall be a 22
3434 school board composed of five or more members chosen by vote of 23
3535 the electors in a partisan nonpartisan election for 24
3636 appropriately staggered terms of four years, as provided by law. 25

4747 (b) The school board shall operate, control and supervise 26

4949 the rate of school district taxes within the limits prescribed 28
5050 herein. Two or more school districts may operate and finance 29

5454 Partisan election of members of district school boards. —33
5555 This section and the amendment to Section 4 of Article IX 34
5656 requiring members of a district school board to be elected in a 35
5757 partisan election rather than a nonpartisan election shall take 36
5858 effect upon approval by the e lectors, except that members of 37
5959 district school boards may not be elected on a partisan basis 38
6060 until the general election held in November 2026. However, 39
6161 partisan primary elections may occur before the general election 40
6262 held on November 3, 2026, for purposes of nominating political 41
6363 party candidates to that office for placement on the 2026 42
