3333 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 20

3535 Section 1. This act may be cited as the "Respecting Their 22
3636 Sacrifice Act." 23
3737 Section 2. Paragraph (i) is added to subsection (3) of 24
3838 section 112.061, Florida Statutes, to read: 25

5151 112.061 Per diem and travel expenses of public officers, 26

5454 (3) AUTHORITY TO INCUR TRAVEL EXPENSES. — 29
5555 (i) The head of a law enforcement agency may authorize 30
5656 travel expenses for an employee of the agency whose duties are 31
5757 those of a law enforcement officer, as defined in s. 943.10(1), 32
5858 to attend a funeral service within the state of a law 33
5959 enforcement officer who was killed in the line of duty. 34
6060 Section 3. Paragraph (f) of subsection (2) of section 35
6161 112.19, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 36
6262 112.19 Law enforcement, correctional, and correctional 37
6363 probation officers; death benefits. — 38

6565 (f) If a full-time law enforcement, correctional, or 40
6666 correctional probation officer who is certified pursuant to 41
6767 chapter 943 and employed by a state agency is k illed in the line 42
6868 of duty while the officer is engaged in the performance of law 43
6969 enforcement duties or as a result of an assault against the 44
7070 officer under riot conditions: 45
7171 1. The sum of $10,000 $1,000 must be paid, as provided for 46
7272 in paragraph (d), towar d the funeral and burial expenses of such 47
7373 officer. Such benefits are in addition to any other benefits to 48
7474 which employee beneficiaries and dependents are entitled under 49
7575 the Workers' Compensation Law or any other state or federal 50

9292 Section 4. Section 112.1921, Florida Statutes, is created 55

9494 112.1921 Administrative leave for law e nforcement 57
9595 officers.—The head of a law enforcement agency may grant 58
9696 administrative leave, not to exceed 8 hours, to an employee of 59
9797 the agency whose duties are those of a law enforcement officer, 60
9898 as defined in s. 943.10(1), to attend a funeral service withi n 61
9999 the state of a law enforcement officer who was killed in the 62
100100 line of duty. The head of the law enforcement agency may deny 63
101101 the use of administrative leave under this section in order to 64
102102 maintain minimum or adequate staffing requirements. 65

105105 287.17 Limitation on use of motor vehicles and aircraft. — 68

107107 (c) For motor vehicles used by a state employee whose 70
108108 duties are those of a law enforcement officer, a s defined in s. 71
109109 943.10(1), the term "official state business" shall be construed 72
110110 to permit the use of the vehicle to attend a funeral service 73
111111 within the state of a law enforcement officer who was killed in 74
