2828 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 15

3030 Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 943.687, Florida 17
3131 Statutes, is amended to read: 18
3232 943.687 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety 19
3333 Commission.— 20
3434 (8) Any portion of a meeting of the Marjory Stoneman 21
3535 Douglas High School Public Safety Commission at which exem pt or 22
3636 confidential and exempt information is discussed is exempt from 23
3737 s. 286.011 and s. 24(b), Art. I of the State Constitution. This 24
3838 subsection is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act 25

5454 Section 2. Subsection (8) of section 1006.12, Florida 29
5555 Statutes, is amended to read: 30
5656 1006.12 Safe-school officers at each public school. —For 31
5757 the protection and safety of school personnel, property, 32
5858 students, and visitors, each district school board and school 33
5959 district superintendent shall partner with law enforcement 34
6060 agencies or security agencies to establish or assign one or more 35
6161 safe-school officers at each s chool facility within the 36
6262 district, including charter schools. A district school board 37
6363 must collaborate with charter school governing boards to 38
6464 facilitate charter school access to all safe -school officer 39
6565 options available under this section. The school dis trict may 40
6666 implement any combination of the options in subsections (1) -(4) 41
6767 to best meet the needs of the school district and charter 42
6868 schools. 43
6969 (8) EXEMPTION.—Any information that would identify whether 44
7070 a particular individual has been appointed as a safe -school 45
7171 officer pursuant to this section held by a law enforcement 46
7272 agency, school district, or charter school is exempt from s. 47
7373 119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution. This 48
7474 subsection is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act 49

9191 If a district school board, through its adopted policies, 54
9292 procedures, or actions, denies a charter school a ccess to any 55
9393 safe-school officer options pursuant to this section, the school 56
9494 district must assign a school resource officer or school safety 57
9595 officer to the charter school. Under such circumstances, the 58
9696 charter school's share of the costs of the school res ource 59
9797 officer or school safety officer may not exceed the safe school 60
9898 allocation funds provided to the charter school pursuant to s. 61
9999 1011.62(12) and shall be retained by the school district. 62
100100 Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023. 63
