22	22	record requirements for any information held by 9
23	23	certain entities that would identify individuals who 10
24	24	have been appointed as safe -school officers; removing 11
25	25	the scheduled repeal of the exemption; providing an 12
26	26	effective date. 13

28	28	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 15

30	30	Section 1. Subsection (8) of section 943.687, Florida 17
31	31	Statutes, is amended to read: 18
32	32	943.687 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety 19
33	33	Commission.— 20
34	34	(8) Any portion of a meeting of the Marjory Stoneman 21
35	35	Douglas High School Public Safety Commission at which exem pt or 22
36	36	confidential and exempt information is discussed is exempt from 23
37	37	s. 286.011 and s. 24(b), Art. I of the State Constitution. This 24
38	38	subsection is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act 25

51	51	in accordance with s. 119.15 and shall stand repealed on Oc tober 26
52	52	2, 2023, unless reviewed and saved from repeal through 27
53	53	reenactment by the Legislature. 28
54	54	Section 2. Subsection (8) of section 1006.12, Florida 29
55	55	Statutes, is amended to read: 30
56	56	1006.12 Safe-school officers at each public school. —For 31
57	57	the protection and safety of school personnel, property, 32
58	58	students, and visitors, each district school board and school 33
59	59	district superintendent shall partner with law enforcement 34
60	60	agencies or security agencies to establish or assign one or more 35
61	61	safe-school officers at each s chool facility within the 36
62	62	district, including charter schools. A district school board 37
63	63	must collaborate with charter school governing boards to 38
64	64	facilitate charter school access to all safe -school officer 39
65	65	options available under this section. The school dis trict may 40
66	66	implement any combination of the options in subsections (1) -(4) 41
67	67	to best meet the needs of the school district and charter 42
68	68	schools. 43
69	69	(8) EXEMPTION.—Any information that would identify whether 44
70	70	a particular individual has been appointed as a safe -school 45
71	71	officer pursuant to this section held by a law enforcement 46
72	72	agency, school district, or charter school is exempt from s. 47
73	73	119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of the State Constitution. This 48
74	74	subsection is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act 49
75	75	in accordance with s. 119.15 and shall stand repealed on October 50

91	91	If a district school board, through its adopted policies, 54
92	92	procedures, or actions, denies a charter school a ccess to any 55
93	93	safe-school officer options pursuant to this section, the school 56
94	94	district must assign a school resource officer or school safety 57
95	95	officer to the charter school. Under such circumstances, the 58
96	96	charter school's share of the costs of the school res ource 59
97	97	officer or school safety officer may not exceed the safe school 60
98	98	allocation funds provided to the charter school pursuant to s. 61
99	99	1011.62(12) and shall be retained by the school district. 62
100	100	Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023. 63
