A bill to be entitled 1 
An act relating to cultivated meat; amending s. 2 
500.03, F.S.; defining the term "cultivated meat"; 3 
creating s. 500.452, F.S.; prohibiting the 4 
manufacture, sale, holding or offering for sale, or 5 
distribution of cultivated meat in this state; 6 
providing criminal penalties; providing for additional 7 
licensing penalties; providing that such products are 8 
subject to an immediate stop -sale order; authorizing 9 
the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to 10 
adopt rules; providing an effective date. 11 
 12 
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 
 14 
 Section 1.  Present paragraphs (k) through (y) of 15 
subsection (1) of section 500.03, Flo rida Statutes, are 16 
redesignated as paragraphs (l) through (z), respectively, and a 17 
new paragraph (k) is added to that subsection, to read: 18 
 500.03  Definitions; construction; applicability. — 19 
 (1)  For the purpose of this chapter, the term: 20 
 (k)  "Cultivated meat" means any meat or food product 21 
produced from cultured animal cells. 22 
 Section 2.  Section 500.452, Florida Statutes, is created 23 
to read: 24 
 500.452  Cultivated meat; prohibition; penalties. — 25

 (1)  It is unlawful for any person to manufacture, sell, 26 
hold or offer for sale, or distribute cultivated meat in this 27 
state. 28 
 (2)  A person who violates this section commits a 29 
misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 30 
775.082 or s. 775.083. 31 
 (3)  A food establishment that distributes or sel ls 32 
cultivated meat in violation of this section is subject to 33 
disciplinary action pursuant to s. 500.121. 34 
 (4)  In addition to the penalties provided in this section, 35 
the license of any restaurant, store, or other business may be 36 
suspended as provided in t he applicable licensing law upon the 37 
conviction of an owner or employee of that business for a 38 
violation of this section in connection with that business. 39 
 (5)  A product found to be in violation of this section is 40 
subject to s. 500.172 and an immediate st op-sale order. 41 
 (6)  The department may adopt rules to implement this 42 
section. 43 
 Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. 44
