18	18	may receive full pay for a leave of absence relating 5
19	19	to active federal military service that lasts a 6
20	20	certain length of time; providing an effective date. 7

22	22	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9

24	24	Section 1. Section 115.09, Florida Sta tutes, is amended to 11
25	25	read: 12
26	26	115.09 Leave to public officials for military service. —All 13
27	27	officials of the state, the several counties of the state, and 14
28	28	the municipalities or political subdivisions of the state, 15
29	29	including district school and community colleg e officers, which 16
30	30	officials are also servicemembers in the National Guard or a 17
31	31	reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United States, 18
32	32	shall be granted leave of absence from their respective offices 19
33	33	and duties to perform active military service, the fi rst 30 days 20
34	34	of any such leave of absence to be with full pay for active 21
35	35	federal military service that is 90 consecutive days or more . 22
36	36	Section 2. Section 115.14, Florida Statutes, is amended to 23

51	51	counties of the state, and the municipalities or political 26
52	52	subdivisions of the state shall be granted leave of absence 27
53	53	under the terms of this law; upon such leave of absence being 28
54	54	granted said employee shall enjoy the same rights and privileges 29
55	55	as are hereby granted to officials under this law, insofar as 30
56	56	may be, including, without limitation, receiving full pay for 31
57	57	the first 30 days for active federal military service that is 90 32
58	58	consecutive days or more . Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 33
59	59	115.09, the employing authority may supplement the military pay 34
60	60	of its officials and employees who are reservists called to 35
61	61	active military service after the first 30 days in an amount 36
62	62	necessary to bring their total salary, inclusive of their base 37
63	63	military pay, to the level earned at the time they were called 38
64	64	to active military duty. The employing authority shall continue 39
65	65	to provide all health insurance and other existing benefits to 40
66	66	such officials and employees as required by the Uniformed 41
67	67	Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, chapter 43 of 42
68	68	Title 38 U.S.C. 43
69	69	Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024. 44
