2222 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9

2424 Section 1. Subsection (127) is added to section 320. 08058, 11
2525 Florida Statutes, to read: 12
2626 320.08058 Specialty license plates. — 13
2727 (127) CURE DIABETES LICENSE PLATES. — 14
2828 (a) The department shall develop a Cure Diabetes license 15
2929 plate as provided in this section and s. 320.08053. The plate 16
3030 must bear the colors an d design approved by the department. The 17
3131 word "Florida" must appear at the top of the plate, and the 18
3232 words "Cure Diabetes" must appear at the bottom of the plate. 19
3333 (b) The annual use fees from the sale of the plate must be 20
3434 distributed equally to the follo wing organizations: 21
3535 1. The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, which 22
3636 supports the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of 23
3737 Miami Miller School of Medicine; 24
38- 2. The JDRF International Incorporated, which supports the 25

53-supports the University of Florida Diabetes Institute. 28
54- (c) Each organization may use up to 10 percent of the 29
55-proceeds received by the organization to promote and market the 30
56-plate. All remaining proceeds must be used for the purpose of 31
57-funding research to cure Type 1 diabetes. 32
58- Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2024. 33
