4-AN ACT concerning education.
5-Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
6-represented in the General Assembly:
7-Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
8-24-3.5 as follows:
9-(105 ILCS 5/24-3.5 new)
10-Sec. 24-3.5. Attendance for federal advocacy work. Any
11-teacher who is a member of a statewide association
12-representing teachers and who is elected by the association's
13-membership to represent the association in federal advocacy
14-work may spend up to 10 days during a school term representing
15-the association in federal advocacy work. No deduction of
16-wages may be made for such absence, and the statewide
17-association shall reimburse the employing school district for
18-the cost of the need for a substitute teacher as the result of
19-the teacher's absence.
