If, on the 8 effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General 9 Assembly, the salary of a clerk is greater than the salary set 10 forth in this Section, that circuit clerk's salary shall not 11 be reduced. 12 (b) (Blank). In counties in which the population is 13 3,000,000 or less, "base salary" is the compensation paid for 14 each Clerk of the Circuit Court, respectively, before July 1, 15 1989. 16 (c) (Blank). The Clerks of the Circuit Court, in counties 17 in which the population is 3,000,000 or less, shall be 18 compensated as follows: 19 (1) Beginning December 1, 1989, base salary plus at 20 least 3% of base salary. 21 (2) Beginning December 1, 1990, base salary plus at 22 least 6% of base salary. 23 (3) Beginning December 1, 1991, base salary plus at 24 least 9% of base salary. 25 (4) Beginning December 1, 1992, base salary plus at 26 least 12% of base salary. SB1373 - 2 - LRB103 27100 LNS 53468 b 1 300,001- 3,000,000........ 85% at least $20,000 2 Over 3,000,000............ 90% at least $55,000 SB1373- 3 -LRB103 27100 LNS 53468 b SB1373 - 3 - LRB103 27100 LNS 53468 b SB1373 - 3 - LRB103 27100 LNS 53468 b 1 (d) In addition to the compensation provided by the county 2 board, each Clerk of the Circuit Court shall receive an award 3 from the State for the additional duties imposed by Sections 4 5-9-1 and 5-9-1.2 of the Unified Code of Corrections, Section 5 10 of the Violent Crime Victims Assistance Act, and other 6 laws, in the following amount: 7 (1) $3,500 per year before January 1, 1997. 8 (2) $4,500 per year beginning January 1, 1997. 9 (3) $5,500 per year beginning January 1, 1998. 10 (4) $6,500 per year beginning January 1, 1999. 11 The total amount required for such awards shall be 12 appropriated each year by the General Assembly to the Supreme 13 Court, which shall distribute such awards in annual lump sum 14 payments to the Clerks of the Circuit Court in all counties. 15 This annual award, and any other award or stipend paid out of 16 State funds to the Clerks of the Circuit Court, shall not 17 affect any other compensation provided by law to be paid to 18 Clerks of the Circuit Court. 19 (e) (Blank). 20 (f) No county board may reduce or otherwise impair the 21 compensation payable from county funds to a Clerk of the 22 Circuit Court if the reduction or impairment is the result of 23 the Clerk of the Circuit Court receiving an award or stipend 24 payable from State funds. 25 (Source: P.A. 100-987, eff. 7-1-19.)
