| 29 | 29 | | 1 SECTION 1. Section 5 of chapter 2 of the charter of the town of Provincetown, which is |

| 30 | 30 | | 2on file in the office of the archivist of the Commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter |

| 31 | 31 | | 343B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting at the end of subsection (c) the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 4following sentence: “No person shall be a candidate or serve in elected office under this charter |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 5if they have a currently-filed declaration of estate of homestead, as set forth in section 3 of |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | 6chapter 188 of the General Laws or similar provisions in other state laws, in any jurisdiction |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 7other than Provincetown.” |
