Enacts the "vicarious liability for housing discrimination act"; imposes vicarious liability on a person for unlawful discriminatory practices related to the sale, rental, or lease of certain property by such person's agent.
Permits awarding of reasonable attorneys' fees and costs and exemplary damages in court actions for unlawful discriminatory practices pursuant to the human rights law; provides incentive to the employer not to discriminate against the employee knowing there will be financial repercussions for their actions.
Waives the residency requirement for the Herkimer county commissioner of social services, provided that such person remains a resident of an adjoining county.
Authorizes the city of Buffalo to adopt a local law requiring a member of the police force in such city to be a resident of Buffalo subsequent to the effective date of such local law.
Extends the authority of the county of Nassau to impose hotel and motel taxes; extends the expiration of certain provisions relating to a surcharge on tickets to places of entertainment in such county, a charge for copying and searching for police accident reports, and receipt of service charges by the Nassau county traffic and parking violations agency; extends the authority of Nassau County to impose additional sales and compensating use taxes and local government assistance programs in Nassau County.
