Amends the name of the Hauppauge Volunteer Exempt Firefighter's Benevolent Association, and certain provisions regarding removing gendered terminology; relates to the use of foreign fire insurance premium taxes.
Provides judges with more discretion to impose bail on principals charged with a felony, principals charged with a misdemeanor when awaiting trial for another crime, principals who are a threat to the safety and security of the community, principals charged with a felony serving a sentence of probation or while released to post release supervision; requires principals who have been charged with an offense related to three separate alleged instances of criminal activity are committed to the custody of the sheriff.
Enacts the "sweatshop-free college apparel act" which requires institutions in the state of New York establish a sweat-free code of conduct in line with labor standards established by the Workers Right Consortium.
Prohibits electric corporations, gas corporations and utilities from passing along costs or increasing charges to ratepayers for electricity and natural gas, or any associated goods and services, as a result of increased costs incurred by such corporation due to tariffs placed by the government of the United States on the importation of goods, services or materials from countries outside the United States or due to tariffs placed by the governments of countries or their political subdivisions on the exportation of goods, services, or materials to the United States.
Authorizes the creation of a study to examine public library aid formulas and library construction formulas and the criteria to be used for such study.
Enacts the "no child left out inclusive playgrounds act"; requires newly built and renovated playgrounds to be accessible for children with disabilities.
Provides that the comptroller shall examine and audit all contracts and funds appropriated for humanitarian aid, including short term shelter services, for migrants entering short term shelters on or after April 1, 2022 in New York city.
Establishes standards for the design and construction of all-gender bathrooms in the state and in New York city; provides standards will be permitted in both new construction and existing structures undergoing repair, renovation, or alteration work.
Relates to the required disclosure upon the release of a juvenile or adolescent offender from the custody of the office of children and family services of certain records that are necessary to ascertain the nature of such offender's conviction and would be beneficial in identifying and mitigating any risk that such offender could pose if released.
Prohibits cannabis storefronts from being located within a quarter mile from any town, city or village which has opted out of permitting the sale of cannabis.
Requires every entity responsible for the broadcast rights of a sports team which is part of a national or international professional sports league to ensure that every publicly broadcast game played by such sports team which is played in a facility that is benefitting or has benefitted from state funds, tax subsidies, eminent domain, or another valuable benefit that was made at a cost to the state, shall be made available to view at no cost within the county such facility is situated in and its adjoining counties.
