Empowers the commissioner of labor to issue stop-work orders against employers for misclassification of employees as independent contractors or for providing false, incomplete, or misleading information to an insurance company on the number of employees of such employer.
Makes technical corrections to the environmental conservation law, providing for misdemeanor penalties for hunting, trapping, or fishing without a valid license.
Authorizes the village of Bath, in Steuben county to adopt and amend local laws imposing a tax on persons occupying a room for hire in any hotel in an amount not to exceed 2% of the per diem rental rate for each room; provides for the expiration and repeal of such provisions on September 1, 2027.
Allows retired state police officers to serve as police officers for local police departments without diminution of retirement benefits; empowers the superintendent of state police to approve such service.
Relates to criminal penalties for possession, theft, or sale of stolen firearms, shotguns and rifles; makes technical corrections to section 155.42 of the penal law.
Enacts the "election workers and polling places protection act" to protect poll watchers, election officials, voters and physical property being used as a polling place or by the board of elections.
Directs the department of state, in cooperation with other departments, to provide technical assistance to any municipality, upon request, that has had a college or university close within such municipality.
Requires that parents of students at student orientations, back to school nights, or other beginning of year events, at schools that participate in the national school lunch program or school breakfast program, receive notification of eligibility, and access to application, for free or reduced price meals for students.
