120 | 212 | specialization and a document from a teacher education institution | |
121 | 213 | verifying satisfactory progress in an appropriate alterna tive | |

146 | 258 | individual of specific compete ncy in the subject area of | |
147 | 259 | specialization, may grant a certificate to the individual. Th e | |
148 | 260 | State Board may establish other requirements necessary to g rant | |
149 | 261 | exceptions. | |

151 | 262 | E. The State Board of Education, in consultation with the | |
152 | 263 | Commission for Educational Qua lity and Accountability, may grant an | |
153 | 264 | exception to the requirement to complete a subject area examination | |
154 | 265 | for initial certification in a field which d oes not require an | |
155 | 266 | advanced degree pursuant to this section if the candidate has an | |
156 | 267 | advanced degree in a s ubject that is substantially comparable to t he | |
157 | 268 | content assessed on a subject area examina tion. The degree shall be | |
