28124 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE O F THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

30125 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1684, is
31126 amended to read as follows:

33127 Section 1684. A. Examinations for licenses as electrical
34128 contractors or journeyman electricians shall be uniform and
35129 practical in nature for each respective licen se and shall be
36130 sufficiently strict to test the qualifications and fitness of the
37131 applicants for licen ses. Examinations shall be in whole or in part
38132 in writing. The Committee shall conduct examinations twice a year
39133 and at such other times as it deems nec essary.

41160 B. Any applicant initially failing to pass the examination
42161 shall not be permitted to take ano ther examination for a period of
43162 thirty (30) days. Any applicant subsequently failing to pass the
44163 examination shall not be permitted to take another exam ination for a
45164 period of ninety (90) days The maximum grade value of each part of

51169 SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1688, is
52170 amended to read as follows:

54171 Section 1688. A. No license shall be issued for longer than
55172 one (1) year, and all licen ses shall expire on the last day in the
56173 birth month of the licensee. A license may be renewed upon
57174 application and payment of fees thirty (30) days preceding or
58175 following the date the licens e is due. Licenses renewed more than
59176 thirty (30) days following the date of expiration may be renewed
60177 only upon application and payment of all required fees and payment
61178 of any penalty for late renewal established by the Board and upon
62179 compliance with any applicable continuing education requirem ents
63180 established by the B oard and the Electrical License Act. No penal ty
64181 for late renewal shall be charged to any holder of a license which
65182 expires while the holder is in military service, if an application

85228 (12) hours of continuing education every three (3) years or thirty-

93-designee, within seven (7) days of the course. The location of
94-continuing education courses shall be at the discretion of the
95-course provider and may be scheduled du ring the workday at the
96-discretion of the course provider. The continuing education
97-material shall cover six (6) hours of codes and revisions adopted by
98-the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC) . The
99-remaining six (6) hours may include the st udy of: electrical
100-circuit theory and calculations, wiring m ethods, grounding and
101-bonding, transformer and motor theory, electrica l circuits and
102-devices, control systems, alternative energy systems including
103-energy storage, safety related to the electrica l industry as defined
104-by NFPA 70E, manufacturers ' installation of equipment or parts, the
105-Electrical License Act, the trade regulat ions as set forth in this
106-act as well as the rules of the Construction Industries Board , and
107-other trade subject matters app roved by the Committee.

115309 may be allowed by the Committee, or its designee, for substit ute

125319 NFPA 70E, other trade subject matters ap proved by the Committee, or
126320 approved continuing education for the contractor or journeyman.
127321 Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, if an apprentice
128322 is a student apprentice or is enrolled and attending an approved
129323 course, the continuing educati on shall not be required.

131324 B. The Construction Industries Board shall amend its rules,
132325 wherever applicable, to con form to the provisions of the Electrical
133326 License Act.
