28	124		BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE O F THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

30	125		SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1684, is
31	126		amended to read as follows:

33	127		Section 1684. A. Examinations for licenses as electrical
34	128		contractors or journeyman electricians shall be uniform and
35	129		practical in nature for each respective licen se and shall be
36	130		sufficiently strict to test the qualifications and fitness of the
37	131		applicants for licen ses. Examinations shall be in whole or in part
38	132		in writing. The Committee shall conduct examinations twice a year
39	133		and at such other times as it deems nec essary.

41	160		B. Any applicant initially failing to pass the examination
42	161		shall not be permitted to take ano ther examination for a period of
43	162		thirty (30) days. Any applicant subsequently failing to pass the
44	163		examination shall not be permitted to take another exam ination for a
45	164		period of ninety (90) days The maximum grade value of each part of

51	169		SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 1688, is
52	170		amended to read as follows:

54	171		Section 1688. A. No license shall be issued for longer than
55	172		one (1) year, and all licen ses shall expire on the last day in the
56	173		birth month of the licensee. A license may be renewed upon
57	174		application and payment of fees thirty (30) days preceding or
58	175		following the date the licens e is due. Licenses renewed more than
59	176		thirty (30) days following the date of expiration may be renewed
60	177		only upon application and payment of all required fees and payment
61	178		of any penalty for late renewal established by the Board and upon
62	179		compliance with any applicable continuing education requirem ents
63	180		established by the B oard and the Electrical License Act. No penal ty
64	181		for late renewal shall be charged to any holder of a license which
65	182		expires while the holder is in military service, if an application

79	223		SECTION 3. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
80	224		in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1688.1 of Title 59, unless there
81	225		is created a duplication i n numbering, reads as follows:

83	226		A. 1. Effective January 1, 2026, no contractor or journeyman
84	227		license shall be renewed unless the licensee has completed twelve
85	228		(12) hours of continuing education every three (3) years or thirty-
86	229		six (36) months preceding the expiration date of the lic ense or
87	230		registration certificate. The continuing education course and
88	231		instructor shall be approved in advance by t he Committee of
89	232		Electrical Examiners. Exceptions to advance approval, or post -

104		-	by NFPA 70E, manufacturers ' installation of equipment or parts, the
105		-	Electrical License Act, the trade regulat ions as set forth in this
106		-	act as well as the rules of the Construction Industries Board , and
107		-	other trade subject matters app roved by the Committee.

124	318		Construction Industries Board, and "electrical safety" as defined by
125	319		NFPA 70E, other trade subject matters ap proved by the Committee, or
126	320		approved continuing education for the contractor or journeyman.
127	321		Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, if an apprentice
128	322		is a student apprentice or is enrolled and attending an approved
129	323		course, the continuing educati on shall not be required.

131	324		B. The Construction Industries Board shall amend its rules,
132	325		wherever applicable, to con form to the provisions of the Electrical
133	326		License Act.
