 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to fees of office for directors of certain water
 districts.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 49.060, Water Code, is amended by adding
 Subsection (f) to read as follows:
 (f)  This subsection applies only to a water control and
 improvement district operating under Chapter 51, Water Code,
 located in more than one county, the most populous of which is
 100,000 or less and the least populous of which is 55,000 or more.  A
 director is entitled to receive fees of office of not more than $200
 a day for each day the director actually spends performing the
 duties of a director.  In this subsection, "performing the duties of
 a director" has the meaning provided in Subsection (a).  A district,
 by resolution of the board, shall set a limit on the fees of office
 that a director may receive in a year.  A district may not set the
 annual limit at an amount greater than $7,200.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
