66 relating to the creation of the Texas Classroom Coaching Program.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 11.252, Education Code is amended by
99 adding Subsection 11.252(g) to read as follows:
1010 Section 11.252(g). A district improvement plan may
1111 establish a Texas Classroom Coaching program with the objective to;
1212 (1) improve student academic performance; and
1313 (2) reduce dropout rates.
1414 SECTION 2. Chapter 661, Government Code is amended by
1515 adding Subchapter 661.920 to read as follows:
1616 Section 661.920 TEXAS CLASSROOM COACHING. (a) A state
1717 employee continuously engaged in weekly classroom visits of 45
1818 minutes in duration as a volunteer in the Texas Classroom Coaching
1919 Program established under 11.252(g), Education Code, may be granted
2020 a leave of absence without a deduction in salary or loss of vacation
2121 time, sick leave, earned overtime credit, or state compensatory
2222 time.
2323 (b) the leave of absence may not exceed 80 hours per fiscal
2424 year and 2 hours per week. Visits will be validated by school staff.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
