 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the issuance of collegiate license plates.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 504.615, Transportation Code, is amended
 by adding Subsection (d-1) and amending Subsection (e) to read as
 follows:
 (d-1)  If the fee is for the issuance of license plates for a
 college described by Subsection (e)(3), the amount of the fee
 remaining after deduction of the department's administrative costs
 shall be deposited to the credit of the Texas Higher Education
 Coordinating Board and may be used only to fund the award of TEXAS
 grants under Subchapter M, Chapter 56, Education Code.
 (e) In this section, "college" means:
 (1) an institution of higher education as defined by
 Section 61.003, Education Code; [or]
 (2) a private college or university described by
 Section 61.222, Education Code; or
 (3) the University of Notre Dame.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
