44 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, State employees raised more than $2.1 million in the
66 2008 Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign; and
77 WHEREAS, Despite these challenging economic times, some
88 8,000 state and higher education employees throughout Bastrop,
99 Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lampasas, Lee,
1010 Llano, Mason, San Saba, Travis, and Williamson Counties donated to
1111 more than 600 charities statewide; and
1212 WHEREAS, Established in 1994, the SECC is the only
1313 statutorily authorized workplace charity campaign for state agency
1414 and higher education employees in Texas; screened for eligibility,
1515 nonprofits that participate in this outstanding program include
1616 local, national, and international organizations that provide
1717 health and human services to individuals in need; and
1818 WHEREAS, Thanks to the generous efforts of those who
1919 participated, 2008 marked the fifth consecutive year that the
2020 Capital Area SECC has exceeded the amount raised in the previous
2121 year, and their contributions have made a positive difference in
2222 many lives; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
2424 hereby commend the Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign
2525 on its dedicated efforts in behalf of charities throughout our
2626 state and beyond and recognize the many individuals who generously
2727 contributed their time and money to this worthy endeavor; and, be it
2828 further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for the Capital Area SECC as an expression of high regard
3131 by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
