H.C.R. No. 121 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, State employees raised more than $2.1 million in the 2008 Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign; and WHEREAS, Despite these challenging economic times, some 8,000 state and higher education employees throughout Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, Mason, San Saba, Travis, and Williamson Counties donated to more than 600 charities statewide; and WHEREAS, Established in 1994, the SECC is the only statutorily authorized workplace charity campaign for state agency and higher education employees in Texas; screened for eligibility, nonprofits that participate in this outstanding program include local, national, and international organizations that provide health and human services to individuals in need; and WHEREAS, Thanks to the generous efforts of those who participated, 2008 marked the fifth consecutive year that the Capital Area SECC has exceeded the amount raised in the previous year, and their contributions have made a positive difference in many lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby commend the Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign on its dedicated efforts in behalf of charities throughout our state and beyond and recognize the many individuals who generously contributed their time and money to this worthy endeavor; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Capital Area SECC as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
