5	5	WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by Orange Grove
6	6	educator Roxie M. Fine, who passed away on December 2, 2008, at the
7	7	age of 45; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on May 3, 1963, to Mary Nan
9	9	and Johnny Marek, Roxie Fine graduated from Calallen High School in
10	10	1981 and subsequently earned a bachelor's degree in family and
11	11	consumer sciences from Texas State University; she began her
12	12	teaching career at Banquete High School, where she was recognized
13	13	as the Banquete ISD Teacher of the Year, before joining the faculty
14	14	of Orange Grove High School in 1994; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Mrs. Fine impressed students with her energy and
16	16	kindness, and in just one year, the school's enrollment in family
17	17	and consumer sciences courses doubled; to accommodate the growth,
18	18	the school hired Mrs. Fine's sister and fellow teacher, Kaye
19	19	Bluntzer, and together, the two women grew the Family, Career, and
20	20	Community Leaders of America program from 10 members to more than
21	21	250; Mrs. Fine's enthusiasm for FCCLA was well known, and in 2007
22	22	she was asked to serve as one of five national consultants for the
23	23	organization; she helped lead training events several times a year,
24	24	and her positive influence was felt by FCCLA professionals around
25	25	the country; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Active in her community as well, this esteemed Texan
27	27	shared her time and talents as a leader in the Jim Wells County 4-H
28	28	program and was a devoted member of St. John of the Cross Catholic
29	29	Church; in addition, she shared a rewarding relationship with her
30	30	husband, Aaron Fine, with whom she was blessed with a son, Ashton;
31	31	and
32	32	WHEREAS, With her luminous smile and zest for life, Roxie
33	33	Fine brought great joy to all those who were privileged to know her;
34	34	although her life ended far too soon, she leaves behind a legacy
35	35	that will continue to inspire others for many years to come; now,
36	36	therefore, be it
37	37	RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
38	38	hereby pay tribute to the life of Roxie M. Fine and extend sincere
39	39	sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Aaron Fine;
40	40	to her son, Ashton Fine; to her sister, Kaye Bluntzer and her
41	41	husband, Eric; to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Loren and
42	42	Debbie Fine; to her nieces and nephews, Gus, Arlis, and Mary Grace
43	43	Bluntzer and Lexus and Chaliis Fine; and to her other relatives and
44	44	many friends; and, be it further
45	45	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
46	46	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
47	47	Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
48	48	Roxie M. Fine.
