 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A century ago, the devoted alumni of Texas A&M
 University began to gather each year on San Jacinto Day to salute
 Texas independence, and in 1922 this annual event was enshrined as
 the official tradition of Aggie Muster, a day on which all alumni
 and students would gather to reminisce about their days at their
 beloved alma mater and to pay special tribute to those among them
 who had died in the previous year; and
 WHEREAS, This tradition gained worldwide recognition in
 1942, during World War II; led by General George Moore of the class
 of 1908, 25 Aggie servicemen risked their lives during the Japanese
 siege of Corregidor to participate in Aggie Muster, a remarkable
 display of their shared beliefs and values; since that time, Aggie
 Muster has continued to grow in popularity and in significance, and
 today there are observances held in more than 400 locations around
 the world; and
 WHEREAS, Aggie Muster is a poignant and heartfelt remembrance
 of those Aggies who have passed away in the previous year, and the
 legislature is pleased to salute the students, alumni, and
 representatives of Texas A&M University who, through their
 participation, exemplify the Lone Star State's spirit of
 friendship, courage, and compassion; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature, in accordance with the house rules of procedure and
 policies of the House Administration Committee, hereby grant
 permission to Texas Aggie Muster to use the chamber of the house in
 the State Capitol on April 21, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., unless
 the Texas House of Representatives is in session at that time.
