| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Alana Peddy has been named the 2007-2008 Elementary |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | School Teacher of the Year by the Little Cypress-Mauriceville |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Consolidated Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Lamar University, Ms. Peddy began her |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | notable career in education at Buna Elementary School in 1982; a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | decade later, she joined Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD as a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | first grade teacher with Mauriceville Elementary; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Peddy has taught kindergarten for the past 15 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | years; with her students' welfare always her uppermost concern, she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | guarantees an optimal learning experience by styling her classes |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | according to their needs and stressing the importance of hands-on |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | lessons; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to her work inside the classroom, Ms. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Peddy serves as co-chair of her school's hospitality committee and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | is a member of the community and student involvement, campus |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | improvement, kindergarten report card revision, and kindergarten |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | math curriculum committees; also the kindergarten team leader, she |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | has developed an innovative curriculum and received a grant from |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Entergy Corporation to construct an outdoor classroom; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This distinguished educator is the founding |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | president of the Mauriceville Elementary Parent-Teacher |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Organization, and she further shares her time with the Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Classroom Teachers Association, which she currently serves as |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | district membership chair and Mauriceville campus representative; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Also active in her community, Ms. Peddy has helped |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | with the annual Mauriceville Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | taught Vacation Bible School at the local First Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Alana Peddy has dedicated a quarter-century to the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | education and guidance of young people in Southeast Texas, and it is |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | fitting that she be honored for her efforts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Alana Peddy on earning the title of |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 2007-2008 Elementary School Teacher of the Year from the Little |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District and |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her |
