H.R. No. 900
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jeff Svoboda has been named the 2008 Citizen of the
Year by the Hutto Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, An employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Hutto, Mr.
Svoboda has long distinguished himself through his volunteer
service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Svoboda is the chair of the Keep Hutto Beautiful
Commission, working to promote recycling in the community; he
regularly talks to local students about environmental issues and
helps schools set up recycling programs; moreover, he was
instrumental in helping the city implement curbside recycling, and
he participates in the annual Trash-Off and Adopt-a-Highway
programs; and
WHEREAS, This caring individual has also been a member of the
Hutto Lions Club for three years, and currently serves as its
secretary; he has played a leading role in the club's project to
donate old eyeglasses to help provide eye care to the less
fortunate, and to date, more than 400 pairs have been collected; and
WHEREAS, An active parishioner of Hutto Lutheran Church, Mr.
Svoboda helped to found the church's community food pantry; in
addition, he has coached basketball, soccer, track, and bowling for
the Hutto Special Olympics; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Svoboda's tireless dedication to helping
others makes him truly an exemplary member of his community and an
inspiring role model, and he is indeed worthy of this important and
heartfelt recognition from his friends and neighbors; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jeff Svoboda for being named the
2008 Citizen of the Year by the Hutto Chamber of Commerce and extend
to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Svoboda as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
