A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the terms of the members of the Texas Transportation
Commission.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 201.052, Transportation Code, is amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 201.052. TERMS. (a) Members of the commission serve
two-year [staggered six-year] terms, with the terms [of either one
or two members] expiring February 1 of each odd-numbered year.
(b) A member of the commission whose term expires may be
reappointed to the commission only with the advice and consent of
the senate.
SECTION 2. The term of a member of the Texas Transportation
Commission serving on December 31, 2010, expires on February 1,
2011.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2010.
