O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB58 by Zaffirini (Relating to the administration of the Juvenile Justice Case Management System.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Section 58.403 of the Government Code permitting the Juvenile Probation Commission (JPC) to participate and assist counties in the creation, operation, and maintenance of a juvenile case management system intended for statewide use. JPC's participation would be through an interlocal contract under Chapter 791, Government Code, which specifies the terms of an interlocal contract. JPC would be permitted to pay license fees, maintenance and operations costs, administrative costs, and any other costs specified in the interlocal contract. JPC would be permitted to provide training services to counties on the use and operation of a system created, operated, or maintained by one or more counties participating in the interlocal contract. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
