99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the agricultural advisory board of an appraisal
1111 district.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Sections 6.12(b) and (d), Tax Code, are amended
1414 to read as follows:
1515 (b) The [One of the] agricultural advisory board [members
1616 must be a representative of the county agricultural stabilization
1717 and conservation service, and the remainder of the] members must be
1818 landowners of the district whose land qualifies for appraisal under
1919 Subchapter C, D, E, or H, Chapter 23, and who have been residents of
2020 the district for at least five years.
2121 (d) The board shall meet at the call of the chief appraiser
2222 at least once [three times] a year.
2323 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act in the
2424 qualifications of members of an agricultural advisory board does
2525 not affect the entitlement of a member serving on the board
2626 immediately before the effective date of this Act to continue to
2727 carry out the board's functions for the remainder of the member's
2828 term. The change in law applies only to a member appointed on or
2929 after the effective date of this Act. This Act does not prohibit a
3030 person who is a member of the board on the effective date of this Act
3131 from being reappointed to the board if the person has the
3232 qualifications required for a member under Section 6.12, Tax Code,
3333 as amended by this Act.
3434 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
