The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a municipality with a population of 25,000 to 49,999 to extend their extraterritorial jurisdiction to within three miles of the boundaries; current statute permits extension within two miles. The bill also would amend the date for apportionment of extraterritorial jurisdictions of certain overlapping municipalities to September 1, 2011.
