11 | 11 | relating to the extent of extraterritorial jurisdiction for certain | |

13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 42.021, Local Government Code, is | |
15 | 15 | amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (c) Regardless of Subsection (a), the extraterritorial | |
17 | 17 | jurisdiction of a municipality is the unincorporated area that is | |
18 | 18 | contiguous to the corporate boundaries of the municipality and that | |
19 | 19 | is located within three miles of those boundaries if the | |
20 | 20 | municipality: | |
21 | 21 | (1) has a population of not less than 20,000 or more | |
22 | 22 | than 29,000; and | |
23 | 23 | (2) is located in a county that has a population of | |
24 | 24 | 45,000 or more and borders the Trinity River. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | |
