| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 223.0451 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 223.0451. USE OF STEEL SLAG FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION. | |
| 13 | 13 | Department design standards, guidelines, and specifications shall | |
| 14 | 14 | require that contract specifications for a road construction | |
| 15 | 15 | project allow for the use of electric arc furnace steel slag for | |
| 16 | 16 | paving, bridge construction, and other appropriate road | |
| 17 | 17 | construction unless that use is technically inappropriate | |
| 18 | 18 | according to sound engineering principles or increases the cost of | |
| 19 | 19 | that construction. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
