The bill would amend the Transportation Code to designate a segment of U.S. Highway 83 Business in Hidalgo and Cameron Counties as a portion of the national Purple Heart Trail. Pursuant to Section 225.021 (c), Transportation Code, TxDOT would design, construct, or erect the marker making the designation only if a grant or donation of funds is made to the department to cover the cost. Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
