14 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

15 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 419.909, Government |
---|
16 | 16 | | Code, is amended to read as follows: |
---|
17 | 17 | | (a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a fire |
---|
18 | 18 | | inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by a state |
---|
19 | 19 | | or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The following |
---|
20 | 20 | | entities may provide training related to fire safety inspections: |
---|
21 | 21 | | (1) the commission; |
---|
22 | 22 | | (2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association |
---|
23 | 23 | | of Texas; |
---|
24 | 24 | | (3) the National Fire Protection Association; |
---|
25 | 25 | | (4) a public junior college; |
---|
26 | 26 | | (5) a regional fire academy; or |
---|
27 | 27 | | (6) any state agency with authority over fire safety |
---|
28 | 28 | | inspections. |
---|
29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
30 | 30 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
31 | 31 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
32 | 32 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
33 | 33 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
