1010 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1111 AN ACT
1212 relating to training regarding fire safety inspections required by
1313 law.
1414 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1515 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 419.909, Government
1616 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1717 (a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a fire
1818 inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by a state
1919 or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The following
2020 entities may provide training related to fire safety inspections:
2121 (1) the commission;
2222 (2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association
2323 of Texas;
2424 (3) the National Fire Protection Association;
2525 (4) a public junior college;
2626 (5) a regional fire academy; or
2727 (6) any state agency with authority over fire safety
2828 inspections.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3333 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
