14 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

15 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 143.073(d), Local Government Code, is |

16 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |

17 | 10 | | (d) If a fire fighter or police officer is temporarily |
---|
18 | 11 | | disabled by an injury or illness that is not related to the person's |
---|
19 | 12 | | line of duty, the person may: |
---|
20 | 13 | | (1) use all sick leave, vacation time, and other |
---|
21 | 14 | | accumulated time before the person is placed on temporary leave; or |
---|
22 | 15 | | (2) have another fire fighter or police officer |
---|
23 | 16 | | volunteer to do the person's work while the person is temporarily |
---|
24 | 17 | | disabled by the injury or illness. |

25 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
