104 AN ACT
115 relating to the frequency with which the Board of Pardons and
126 Paroles considers the eligibility of certain inmates for release on
137 parole.
148 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
159 SECTION 1. Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, is
1610 amended to read as follows:
1711 (g-1) The month designated under Subsection (g)(1) by the
1812 parole panel that denied release must begin after the first
1913 anniversary of the date of the denial and end before the fifth
2014 anniversary of the date of the denial, unless the inmate is serving
2115 a sentence for an offense under Section 22.021, Penal Code, or a
2216 life sentence for a capital felony, in which event the designated
2317 month must begin after the first anniversary of the date of the
2418 denial and end before the 10th anniversary of the date of the
2519 denial.
2620 SECTION 2. The Board of Pardons and Paroles shall adopt a
2721 policy consistent with Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, as
2822 amended by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date
2923 of this Act.
3024 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
