| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 15 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 662.061 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | Sec. 662.061. GOLD STAR MOTHER'S DAY. (a) The last Sunday |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | in September of each year is Gold Star Mother's Day in recognition |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | of mothers whose sons and daughters died while serving in the United |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | States armed forces. |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (b) Gold Star Mother's Day shall be regularly observed by |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | appropriate ceremonies. |

| 22 | 16 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |

| 23 | 17 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |

| 25 | 19 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
