115 relating to creating a recognition day in honor of Gold Star
126 Mothers.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
159 amended by adding Section 662.061 to read as follows:
1610 Sec. 662.061. GOLD STAR MOTHER'S DAY. (a) The last Sunday
1711 in September of each year is Gold Star Mother's Day in recognition
1812 of mothers whose sons and daughters died while serving in the United
1913 States armed forces.
2014 (b) Gold Star Mother's Day shall be regularly observed by
2115 appropriate ceremonies.
2216 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2317 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2418 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2519 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2620 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
