45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Darias Whittington of Mary Carroll High School was
67 honored for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015
78 season by being chosen as the Most Valuable Player in the Corpus
89 Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections;

1011 WHEREAS, Ms. Whittington averaged 15 points, 5 assists, and 3
1112 rebounds per game as she helped the team win its first outright
1213 district title since 2008 and reach the playoffs for the third
1314 straight year; she also overcame an ankle injury to score 17 points
1415 during the Tigers' bi-district playoff game, and she was selected
1516 for the 28-6A All-District team; and
1617 WHEREAS, The daughter of Patricia and Dwight Whittington,
1718 Darias Whittington has been the starting point guard on the varsity
1819 team for the past three years; following her graduation in 2015, she
1920 hopes to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level; and
2021 WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting
2122 acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to
2223 excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she
2324 may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore,
2425 be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2627 Legislature hereby congratulate Darias Whittington on being chosen
2728 as the 2015 Most Valuable Player in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times
2829 All-South Texas basketball awards selections and extend to her
2930 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3031 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3132 prepared for Ms. Whittington as an expression of high regard by the
3233 Texas House of Representatives.
