H.R. No. 2110 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Darias Whittington of Mary Carroll High School was honored for her exceptional achievements during the 2014-2015 season by being chosen as the Most Valuable Player in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections; and WHEREAS, Ms. Whittington averaged 15 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds per game as she helped the team win its first outright district title since 2008 and reach the playoffs for the third straight year; she also overcame an ankle injury to score 17 points during the Tigers' bi-district playoff game, and she was selected for the 28-6A All-District team; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Patricia and Dwight Whittington, Darias Whittington has been the starting point guard on the varsity team for the past three years; following her graduation in 2015, she hopes to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level; and WHEREAS, The All-South Texas award provides fitting acknowledgement of the talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by this exemplary student-athlete, and she may take justifiable pride in her accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Darias Whittington on being chosen as the 2015 Most Valuable Player in the Corpus Christi Caller-Times All-South Texas basketball awards selections and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Whittington as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
