| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 39.027(a-2), Education Code, is amended | |
| 11 | 11 | to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a-2) Unless a student is enrolled in a school in the United | |
| 13 | 13 | States for a period of at least 120 [60] consecutive days during a | |
| 14 | 14 | year, the student may not be considered to be enrolled in a school | |
| 15 | 15 | in the United States for that year for the purpose of determining a | |
| 16 | 16 | number of years under Subsection (a)(1), (2), or (3). | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | |
| 18 | 18 | school year. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
