 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the period of days in which a student is enrolled in a
 school in the United States for purposes of determining a number of
 years for which the student may receive an alternative or exemption
 from student assessment.
 SECTION 1.  Section 39.027(a-2), Education Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (a-2)  Unless a student is enrolled in a school in the United
 States for a period of at least 120 [60] consecutive days during a
 year, the student may not be considered to be enrolled in a school
 in the United States for that year for the purpose of determining a
 number of years under Subsection (a)(1), (2), or (3).
 SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016
 school year.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
