15 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

16 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 25.2222(a), Government Code, is amended |
---|
17 | 10 | | to read as follows: |
---|
18 | 11 | | (a) A county court at law in Tarrant County has jurisdiction |
---|
19 | 12 | | over all civil matters and causes, original and appellate, |
---|
20 | 13 | | prescribed by law for county courts. The County Court at Law No. 1 |
---|
21 | 14 | | of Tarrant County also has jurisdiction over all criminal matters |
---|
22 | 15 | | and causes, original and appellate, prescribed by law for county |
---|
23 | 16 | | courts. The County Courts at Law Nos. 2 and 3 of Tarrant County do |
---|
24 | 17 | | not have criminal jurisdiction. Notwithstanding any other |
---|
25 | 18 | | provision, a county court at law in Tarrant County has jurisdiction |
---|
26 | 19 | | on any appeal from a municipal court of record in Tarrant County |
---|
27 | 20 | | that is not an appeal of a criminal law case or proceeding. |

28 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
