75 relating to a clarification of the law governing eligibility of
86 certain events for funding under the Major Events trust fund.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Section 5A(a)(5), Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts
119 of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14,
1210 Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1311 (5) "Site selection organization" means:
1412 (A) the National Football League, the National
1513 Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball
1614 Association, ESPN or an affiliate, the National Hockey League,
1715 Major League Baseball, the Federation Internationale de Football
1816 Association (FIFA), the International World Games Association, the
1917 National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), or the
2018 United States Olympic Committee;
2119 (B) the national governing body of a sport that
2220 is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National
2321 Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited,
2422 or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile;
2523 (C) the Academy of Country Music;
2624 (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; [or]
2725 (E) the Republican National Committee or the
2826 Democratic National Committee; or
2927 (F) the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
30- SECTION 2. The amendment made by this Act to Section
31- 5A(a)(5), Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature,
32- Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil
33- Statutes), is intended only to clarify existing law on the
34- eligibility of certain events to receive funding from the Major
35- Events trust fund. Each event held on or after the effective date
36- of that Act and the event's eligibility to receive funding from the
37- Major Events trust fund are governed by the law as clarified by this
38- Act.
28+ SECTION 2. The amendment made by this Act to Section 5A(a),
29+ Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular
30+ Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
31+ intended only to clarify existing law, as amended by Chapter 1371
32+ (S.B. 1678), Acts of the 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013,
33+ on the eligibility of certain events to receive funding from the
34+ Major Events trust fund. Each event held on or after the effective
35+ date of S.B. 1678, 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, and the
36+ event's eligibility to receive funding from the Major Events trust
37+ fund, are governed by the law as clarified by this Act.
3938 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4039 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4140 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4241 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4342 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
