84R5903 AAF-D By: Taylor of Collin S.B. No. 404 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to requiring state agencies to identify spending reduction measures. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Chapter 322, Government Code, is amended by adding Section 322.025 to read as follows: Sec. 322.025. STATE AGENCY REPORT ON SPENDING REDUCTION MEASURES. (a) Not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year, each state agency shall submit to the governor, lieutenant governor, speaker of the house of representatives, and Legislative Budget Board a detailed report identifying measures by which the agency can reduce the agency's biennial expenditures by 1 percent, 5 percent, and 10 percent. (b) The Legislative Budget Board by rule may adopt standards for the report required by this section, including rules governing the format, content, and methods of submission of the report. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
