55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to providing a translated copy of a student's
88 individualized education program to parents unable to speak
99 English.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 29.005, Education Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
1313 (d-1) In compliance with Subsection (d), the district shall
1414 provide the child's individualized education program in audiotape
1515 form if requested by the parent. Audiotaped copies shall include
1616 all components of the individualized education program required
1717 under state or federal law that are developed or revised by the
1818 committee.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016
2020 school year.
2121 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
