94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to the filing of oaths of office and signed statements by
127 certain judicial officers and judicial appointees with the
138 secretary of state.
149 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1510 SECTION 1. Chapter 602, Government Code, is amended by
1611 adding Section 602.007 to read as follows:
1712 Sec. 602.007. FILING OF OATH MADE BY CERTAIN JUDICIAL
1813 OFFICERS AND JUDICIAL APPOINTEES. The oath made and signed
1914 statement executed as required by Section 1, Article XVI, Texas
2015 Constitution, by any of the following judicial officers and
2116 judicial appointees shall be filed with the secretary of state:
2217 (1) an officer appointed by the supreme court, the
2318 court of criminal appeals, or the State Bar of Texas; and
2419 (2) an associate judge appointed under Subchapter B or
2520 C, Chapter 201, Family Code.
2621 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2722 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2823 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2924 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3025 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
