| 14 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 602, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 16 | 11 | | adding Section 602.007 to read as follows: |

| 17 | 12 | | Sec. 602.007. FILING OF OATH MADE BY CERTAIN JUDICIAL |
|---|
| 18 | 13 | | OFFICERS AND JUDICIAL APPOINTEES. The oath made and signed |
|---|
| 19 | 14 | | statement executed as required by Section 1, Article XVI, Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 15 | | Constitution, by any of the following judicial officers and |
|---|
| 21 | 16 | | judicial appointees shall be filed with the secretary of state: |
|---|
| 22 | 17 | | (1) an officer appointed by the supreme court, the |
|---|
| 23 | 18 | | court of criminal appeals, or the State Bar of Texas; and |
|---|
| 24 | 19 | | (2) an associate judge appointed under Subchapter B or |
|---|
| 25 | 20 | | C, Chapter 201, Family Code. |
|---|
| 26 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
