14 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

15 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 602, Government Code, is amended by |
---|
16 | 11 | | adding Section 602.007 to read as follows: |
---|
17 | 12 | | Sec. 602.007. FILING OF OATH MADE BY CERTAIN JUDICIAL |
---|
18 | 13 | | OFFICERS AND JUDICIAL APPOINTEES. The oath made and signed |
---|
19 | 14 | | statement executed as required by Section 1, Article XVI, Texas |
---|
20 | 15 | | Constitution, by any of the following judicial officers and |
---|
21 | 16 | | judicial appointees shall be filed with the secretary of state: |
---|
22 | 17 | | (1) an officer appointed by the supreme court, the |
---|
23 | 18 | | court of criminal appeals, or the State Bar of Texas; and |
---|
24 | 19 | | (2) an associate judge appointed under Subchapter B or |
---|
25 | 20 | | C, Chapter 201, Family Code. |
---|
26 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
27 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
28 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
29 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
30 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
