| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 41.71, Tax Code, is amended to read as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sec. 41.71. EVENING AND WEEKEND HEARINGS. An appraisal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | review board by rule shall provide for hearings on protests in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | evening or on a Saturday [or Sunday]. The board may not schedule a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | hearing on a protest on a Sunday. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to a hearing on a protest under Chapter 41, Tax Code, that is |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | scheduled on or after the effective date of this Act. A hearing on a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | protest under Chapter 41, Tax Code, that is scheduled before the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | date the hearing was scheduled, and that law is continued in effect |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | for that purpose. |

| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
