7 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

8 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1701.253(d), Occupations Code, is |
---|
9 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
10 | 12 | | (d) Training in documentation of cases required by |
---|
11 | 13 | | Subsection (b) shall include instruction in: |
---|
12 | 14 | | (1) making a written account of the extent of injuries |
---|
13 | 15 | | sustained by the victim of an alleged offense; |
---|
14 | 16 | | (2) recording by photograph or videotape the area in |
---|
15 | 17 | | which an alleged offense occurred and the victim's injuries; [and] |
---|
16 | 18 | | (3) recognizing and recording a victim's statement |
---|
17 | 19 | | that may be admissible as evidence in a proceeding concerning the |
---|
18 | 20 | | matter about which the statement was made; and |
---|
19 | 21 | | (4) recognizing and recording circumstances |
---|
20 | 22 | | indicating that a victim may have been assaulted in the manner |
---|
21 | 23 | | described by Section 22.01(b)(2)(B), Penal Code. |
---|
22 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 1701.352(f), Occupations Code, is |
---|
23 | 25 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
24 | 26 | | (f) Training in documentation of cases required by |
---|
25 | 27 | | Subsection (b) shall include instruction in: |

26 | 28 | | (1) making a written account of the extent of injuries |

36 | 38 | | SECTION 3. (a) Not later than January 1, 2020, the Texas |
---|
37 | 39 | | Commission on Law Enforcement shall establish or modify training |
---|
38 | 40 | | programs as necessary to comply with Section 1701.253, Occupations |
---|
39 | 41 | | Code, as amended by this Act. |
---|
40 | 42 | | (b) The minimum curriculum requirements under Section |
---|
41 | 43 | | 1701.253(d), Occupations Code, as amended by this Act, apply only |
---|
42 | 44 | | to a peace officer who first begins to satisfy those requirements on |
---|
43 | 45 | | or after January 1, 2020. |
---|
44 | 46 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
