95 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
106 AN ACT
117 relating to a requirement that a decree of divorce include the date
128 of the marriage.
139 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1410 SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 6, Family Code, is amended
1511 by adding Section 6.712 to read as follows:
1612 Sec. 6.712. DATE OF MARRIAGE REQUIREMENT IN FINAL DECREE.
1713 (a) In a suit for dissolution of a marriage in which the court
1814 grants a divorce, the court shall state the date of the marriage in
1915 the decree of divorce.
2016 (b) This section does not apply to a suit for dissolution of
2117 a marriage described by Section 2.401(a)(2).
2218 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2319 to a suit for dissolution of a marriage filed on or after the
2420 effective date of this Act. A suit for dissolution of a marriage
2521 filed before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law
2622 in effect on the date the suit was filed, and the former law is
2723 continued in effect for that purpose.
2824 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
