13 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 574.001(b), Health and Safety Code, is | |
15 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
16 | 12 | (b) Except as provided by Subsection (f), the application | |
17 | 13 | must be filed with the county clerk in the county in which the | |
18 | 14 | proposed patient: | |
19 | 15 | (1) resides; | |
20 | 16 | (2) is found; [or] | |
21 | 17 | (3) is being assessed in an emergency room or | |
22 | 18 | hospital; or | |
23 | 19 | (4) is receiving mental health services by court order | |
24 | 20 | or under Subchapter A, Chapter 573. | |
25 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | |
